Social and therapeutic horticulture (STH) and horticulture therapy use gardening and horticulture to improve the lives of people with a wide range of support needs.
The Association was set up some ten years ago with a long term aim of developing a voluntary professional register of practitioners and in the short term seeking to support practitioners through a network of support groups and to promote as widely as possible the benefits of STH and horticultural therapy.
Regrettably. for the last few years the Association has been inactive due to the lack of resources to take things forward – the previous committee all having experienced work, family or health challenges.
Efforts are being made behind the scenes to resurrect the Association and if you would be interested in joining once this is achieved please email firstname.lastname@example.org Membership will be open to practitioners and anyone else interested in the field of Social and Therapeutic Horticulture.
We will be focusing on England, Wales and Northern Ireland but welcome enquiries and members from anywhere. If you are based in Scotland you may also like to contact Trellis, the national organisation for therapeutic horticulture in Scotland.
